This is what I have to say about it...
I support KONY 2012. I believe that justice should be brought to Joseph Kony for the heinous crimes he has committed. I believe that KONY 2012 was created to bring awareness to this issue at hand. I believe that it is doing something to this world.
However, I believe that posting a status, reblogging the video, talking about it..whatever..it's not going to do as much unless you actually take action.
[Oh, and a sidenote...please do not post status about this to get likes or 'yay!' comments or whatever. It irritates me to no end. If you're not really going to stand for it, but just talk about it for popularity, please don't say anything at all. Ok. I'm done.]
Make people aware, but don't just do it in the comfort of your own home. Get out there and make your voice heard. Stand up for what you believe in, but, just so you know, you're going to have to get uncomfortable.
Well, now that you know you're going to have to leave your comfort zone, I'm going to tell you of something else you must do as a Christian...
We're fighting a war of injustice here. That much is clear as day. But, we're fighting another war too. A war full of selfishness and fear. A war between man and the world. A spiritual war.
The publicity KONY has gotten is amazing. It's great. But it's missing something. It's missing the true solution to everlasting peace. We can stop Kony and end this war if we all stand together as one voice, but the peace will eventually fade. But, this kind of peace wasn't really meant to last.
There is a peace, though, that never fades and never fails. This peace starts within the hearts of Christians. It grows stronger and stronger inside of you, until you feel as if you're about to burst because you have experienced this peace like nothing before it.
This peace comes from Christ. This is the peace Christ wants to give us.
1 Thessalonians 3:16 says this,
Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all time and in every way. The Lord be with you all.Do you understand what is being said here? God wants to give you this eternal peace, and He wants to give it to you in any and every form possible. And with God...well, anything is possible, so don't be too surprised if he gives you peace in an unexpected way.
I was going through my journal earlier today, just looking at quotes and lyrics I had written down, trying to find some of my favorites to write down as a present. Anyway.. I came across this one by Jon Foreman, the leader singer of Switchfoot, and was astonished at how relevant it is with this whole ordeal.
Of course everyone wants peace, but I think a lot of times we overlook the fact that external peace can never happen until internal peace happens. There ya go. In order to truly find peace in this world, we must first experience the peace of Christ. There's no way you will ever be content with the ways of the world until you are content with the ways of yourself through Christ.
I know it's hard to accept this, but whatever the outcome of KONY 2012, whether we agree with it or not, we must realize that it's how God intended it to be. God would never make/let something happen unless He had a plan that it was a part of.
Christ will justify every man on earth when it comes time. For now, we are being used to bring justice to man while they are on earth.
God isn't going to leave us hanging, that's why He offers us eternal peace.
We shouldn't leave God hanging either. Whether you stand with KONY or not, lift His name higher. Act in His Name. Fight the war against social injustice on earth in God's name. Let it be known why exactly you fight the war you are fighting.
Through Christ I will stand against the injustice of the world and I will put my words into action. I will serve Christ by standing up for what I am called to.
I will stand and by the power and strength of God, I will stand tall.
Welp. Now you know where I am on all of this.
